Persistance is Key

So I am going to continue to post until I can figure out how to actually get a following going...sad I know. I love reading the food and fitness blogs. Some of my favorites are Eat,Live,Run; Inner workings of a college graduate; The Healthy Tipping Point, The fitnessista; and many more! Those girls are awesome and so fun to read about.

Anyways...I have decided to sign up with Team in Training for the Disney marathon! I have absolutely scared out of my mind but very excited for the challenge. I would appreciate any support I can get to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. It feels so great to be working towards a marathon (a personal goal of mine) but it is even better to be doing this to help others. If anyone has fundraising ideas please let me know!

Hopefully I will figure this thing out soon.

Love,
Shannon

I must be an idiot

The title speaks for itself.  I have yet to figure out how this blog thing works.  If anyone is actually reading this please let me know because as it is now I am writing to myself.  Until I figure this out I will just pretend people are reading it :)

Things are crazy busy right and slightly stressful, especially for J.  He is now officially a third year medical student and it studying for his step 1 boards (for anyone that doesn't know this is pretty much the most important test; residency programs look at those score once you graduate to decide if they want him in their program).  Needless to say, J is not in the best of moods.  His test is June 11th and on June 13th we are packing up and moving to Port Saint Lucie where he will be doing the clinical portion of med school.  We both are so excited to get the heck out of Tallahassee and are counting down the days.  We were able to find a house to rent and I was able to get a job fairly easily on a pediatric unit.  We have a lot of packing to do which I am really dreading :(

I have so much more to talk about but I am going to stop here and find out if anyone is actually reading this first.  Thanks!

Update

Well, I guess I was slacking a little because it has been three months since my last post!!!  I guess and update is due.  Our wedding was March 7th and it was absolutely the most perfect day of my life.  Everything went perfectly!  I couldn't have asked for anything better.  We didn't go on a honeymoon because J had only a few days off before he had to go back to school :(  We did, however, get ourselves a little present....a puppy!!!  We got a bichon frise.  His name is Mattie and he is a cute little fluffball.  He has definantly given us some insight into what it will be like to be parents (even  though I know he is much easier).

Speaking of parents, a couple of weeks ago I flew out to North Carolina to visit my best friend from highschool and her new little baby!  He is 2 months old and the cutest, most precious little baby I have ever seen.  It was so amazing to see my best friend as a mom; she is doing such a wonderful job.

In about a month J and I are moving for his 3rd year of medical school so we are very excited and very busy getting everything ready.  I have a job interview this friday and then I will be house hunting all day after that!  I am really looking forward to going somewhere new and the adventures to come.

Last but not least for the updates;  I am training for a sprint triathlon in October!!!  I am so excited for this new challenge.  Last year I did a half marathon and I have done a million 5K's in the past so now I am looking for something different.  I plan on doing a half marathon again somtime later this year.  Okay I think that is it for the updates. Now if I can only figure out how to get people to read these posts :)

Have a wonderful day!

First time blogger

Hello~

This is my first blog and I can't tell you how excited and I am to start this.  I love to write and now I have discovered a way to do this and actually have people (hopefully) read and respond to my thoughts on my everyday life.  I thought blogging would also be a great way to keep family and friends updated on my life when I don't get to see or talk to them very often.

Things are really busy right now and will be for the next 2 weeks because I am getting married in 13 days!!!!  My fiance, J is a 2nd year medical student so he was been slightly pre-occupied with school to do much of the wedding planning, but thankfully my mom and dad have been very involved.  It just so happens that he has a huge test the day before the wedding; so he is taking his test and then driving with one of his groomsman 5 hours to get home where the wedding will be.  We did not mean for the wedding to be planned at such a bad time but being in a medical school he does not get much time off and the week of the wedding will be his spring break so at least he will be able to relax once the wedding is over.  Sadly, we are not going to go on a honeymoon just yet because we have to find a place to live when we move in June.  For J's 3rd and 4th year he is able to choose out of 5 locations where he wants to live to complete his clinical rotations.  We chose to move to Port St. Lucie because it is close to our hometown.  After these 2 years are up who knows where we will end up but that is the most exciting part of it all!.

I am going to go ahead and stop here and try to improve my profile a bit.  If you read this, thanks for taking the time!
